by Frank Blaichman

Originally scheduled to publish in June 2009, RATHER DIE FIGHTING will now be published in November 2009—a powerful and inspiring memoir of a man who defied the Nazis—and lived to tell the tale.

In the most recent New York Times Book Review, bestselling author Dennis Lehane reviews Tom Rob Smith’s THE SECRET SPEECH. Lehane writes “in Smith’s hands [the] scenes attain a pulse of exhilaration worthy of Dickens by way of Conrad…a broadening of moral scope and thematic richness…rendered with passionate and indelible precision.”

Read the complete review here.

Also, the Up Front section of the New York Times Book Review highlights Dennis Lehane’s process:

“When you look at what Tom Rob Smith has been investigating in his first two novels, strictly on a sociopolitical level, you find all sorts of parallels to the current global culture. If THE SECRET SPEECH were just another hoary vengeance-rises-from-the-past narrative, I couldn’t be bothered. But there’s a lot more going on there that grips us in the present tense as opposed to the past.”
